Time in the Wilderness: A Lenten Devotional

We are pleased to share with you this collection of daily devotions for Lent from both the Watertown and Woodbury United Methodist Churches. Click here to download your copy now!

Methodism is “connectional”; that is, we find ourselves joined not so much in a singular belief system but “connected” as congregations of persons who believe in God’s gift of grace to all… a gift we express in our commitment to personal discipleship and our service to others.

Lent is a time for us to prepare for the fulfillment of God’s Easter promise. That preparation has us look inward and serve outward.

It is a time to challenge ourselves to commit to daily spiritual disciplines such as reading scripture, fasting, journaling, denying self, serving other, and prayer. Hopefully you will incorporate these devotions into your daily practice.

This year our Lenten theme is “Wilderness” …. a barren place of solitude that can
be intimidating; yet, exactly the place where we might develop a more trusting relationship with God. The God who was faithful to the Israelites in the wilderness and the God who was faithful to his son, Jesus, in the wilderness.

Thank you to all who contributed to this work of faith and those who will make reading it part of their daily habit. Please multiply the blessing by sharing copies with family and friends.
